Lancelin sanddunes and Pinnacles (Cervantes)
On our third day in australia we were going north from Perth. Our first stop north was Lancelin, where they have sanddunes. Now i know what dehydrating means, i never felt so hot and running out of water. Afterwards we were cooling down in the car until our next stop, which were the pinnacles in cervantes. We went the 4km through that nationalpark by car, because it was just too hot to walk it. The pinnacles are some yellow stones, 500 000 years old which look really funny. After visiting that place we made our way up to Geraldton where we had a look at the lighthouse and the sunset.
Pink Lake, Hutt Lagoon
Our next stop was the pink lake at Hutt lagoon. The lake is a saltlake and due to the high temperatures and the wind seaweed is creating betakarodin which is painting the saltcristals pink. There are some of those lakes in australia, there is also one which is pink all the year, but you can’t visit this one. I took some pictures and sank into the lake, which wasn’t the best experience to make 😛
Kalbarri Nationalpark
After the pink lake we made our way to kalbarri, where the coast and the nationalpark are really beautiful. Driving in western australia is more than boring because it always looks the same.
At the kalbarri nationalpark we visited the Natural Bridge and the Island Rock first, then we walked to the Eagle Gorge beach, which is a nice beach, where you have a stunning view to the coastal rocks. It’s not good for swimming, the waves are high and the sea rough. In the evening we went to the Nature’s Window and The Loop. The last 14km there weren’t asphalted and our car got shaky on the way. We also saw some kangaroos on the way and i got crazy about seeing my first real kangaroos :P. In the evening we were watching the sunset at Red Bluff Beach before grabbing some food.
On the next day we went north to Monkey Mia. In the morning we started our tour at Hawk’s Head and Ross Graham in the Kalbarri National Park, where we could see that the river doesn’t have that much water in it.
